This image, made at the Beacon Theater in 2014, has become one of the most powerful and widely seen performance images of Sharon. It was taken at the time of her major comeback concert following a year of cancer treatment, as chronicled in Barbara Kopple's acclaimed documentary Miss Sharon Jones!  Sharon leaves the stage, ecstatic and relieved, before returning for the encore.

This photograph was initially published in Rolling Stone, was published in The New York Times… twice, and also served as the basis for the initial version of the poster for Miss Sharon Jones!
